DESCRIPTION

The house consists of 2 full floors totaling 1735 square feet. The house was built in 1993 and has the popular "reverse floor plan." This allows for the best ocean views from the upstairs living area while the bedrooms (excluding the master are downstairs. An enclosed entrance and stairway leads from the well lit concrete driveway under the house to the first living (bedroom) level. Your key unlocks the lock and deadbolt on both this ground level doorway and the first floor front entrance. If you have forgotten your key or locked it inside there is a hidden spare key in the location as instructed by your cover letter that accompanied your mailed key. Please use this spare key for emergencies only and please return to original location. A full size washer and dryer are in an area off this entrance way. The first floor has three bedrooms, a living area and a full bath. Each of the bedrooms and the living area contain Cable TV's. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and the third bedroom has a bunk bed with a roll out trundle bed as a third bed. One bunk and the trundle is a single bed while the second bunk is a double bed. Please furnish your own sheets, pillow cases, bath towels and dish towels; however you can rent the linens and towels @ $60/week. The stairway off the sitting room leads to the upstairs living area. This floor contains the master bedroom, living area, dining area, full bath and kitchen. The master bedroom has a queen size bed. The bath is a full bath with a Jacuzzi tub. Please do turn on the jets in the tub until the water is above them. The tub also has a hand held shower.

The kitchen is large and fully equipped. It includes a dishwasher, toaster/oven, coffee maker, blender and microwave. There is silverware, dishes and glasses to accommodate 10 people. The dining area is off the kitchen, separated by a breakfast counter and 2 stools. The dining area has a wooden table that seats 10. The living area has a cable TV, and a DVD player. It also has a stereo with a CD and tape player.

The decks on each level face east to provide beautiful views of the Atlantic. There is a low rise condominium complex across the Beach road from the “Beach Crab”. Please do not cut through the complex to get to the beach. There is a public beach access 200 yards north of the house at 1st Street. The side deck under the house has a picnic table and a Weber charcoal grill. There is also a sink, outdoor shower and fish cleaning table located at the back of the driveway. The house is within walking distance of several popular restaurants. There is a bicycle path located on both sides of the Beach Road.

The central air is a dual controlled system with a thermostat on each floor that operates independently. The unit is most efficient at 77 degrees. The cleaning is no longer “Optional”. The fee is $85 and can be taken out of the deposit. Please leave the key on the counter when you leave.

The house will be inspected after you leave for damages. After the inspection the deposit will be returned to you if there are no damages. Please do not put more than nine (9) people in the “Beach Crab”.

LOCATION / DIRECTIONS

1510 VIRGINIA DARE TRAIL
KILL DEVIL HILLS, NORTH CAROLINA

Take Interstate 95 from Washington, DC to Interstate 295 (Beltway around Richmond, VA) to Interstate 64 (east). Exit I-64 onto I-664 (across from the Hampton Coliseum). The I-664 exit is to the right and is well marked. Take I-664 through the tunnel. I-664 will end at I-64. Exit right back onto I-64 (now you are heading north). Then exit I-64 at Route 168 bypass (Exit 291-B (Great Bridge & Nags Head exit)). Follow Route 168 into North Carolina where it becomes Route 158. Route 158 crosses the Currituck Sound Bridge to the Outer Banks.

Take Route 158 Bypass past the Milepost #7 to just before the Wright Memorial. Turn left on First (1st) Street (stoplight after K-Mart, the Kill Devil Hills water tower and the Kill Devil Hills fire department). Next, take First Street until it ends at the ocean. Turn right on Virginia Dare Trail (the “beach road”). The “Beach Crab” is the 13th house on the right. The house has a hanging sign “Beach Crab” on a post in the front and the number 1510 on a vertical post at the street.

HOUSE RULES / GENERAL INFORMATION


Check In Time: Saturday at 2:00 PM
Check Out Time: Saturday at 11:00 AM

(as stated in contract there is a $25 per hour (or partial hour) charge past 11 AM)

 

WINDOWS
Windows: When leaving the “Beach Crab” even for a short time please close all windows and doors. Sudden rain storms come with little or no warning. Also, please leave windows and doors closed as much as possible during pollen season.

CLEANING
There is a cleaning service for $85. The cleaning service is no longer “optional”.

REFRIGERATOR
Please leave refrigerator and freezer settings at mid-range. When you first arrive at the “Beach Crab” and put warm foods in the refrigerator it takes several hours for the refrigerator to cool the foods. Please wait before you call for maintenance.

PETS
Absolutely no PETS are allowed under any circumstances. Violation of this rule will result in forfeiture of deposit and could be grounds for eviction.

OUTDOOR GRILLING
The grill is chained to an outdoor deck on the ground level (fire ordinance). Please be careful when grilling. Any turkey roasters or other cooking devices used on the upstairs deck are not permitted and all damages will come out of the deposit.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER
There is a fire extinguisher located on both living levels and in the washer/dryer alcove. One is in the hallway on the bedroom level and the other is in the kitchen. Please make sure every guest is aware where they are located.

TELEPHONE
There is no longer a telephone (land–line) in the house.

TRASH PICKUP
Trash pick-up is Mondays and Thursdays. Please make sure the dumpsters are wheeled to the roadway for pick-up and returned under the house afterwards. Please try to make the Thursday pick-up so the next renters have some room in the dumpster. The town ordinance is strict and places a fine on trash placed on the ground.

MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS
If you should have any immediate maintenance problems with the cottage please call and report them to Ron Perry. His number is (252) 202-3635. Or contact me at 703-855-7725. Any minor problems please leave him a note when you leave or inform me on your return.

Maximum occupancy: There is a maximum occupancy limit of 9 people in the “Beach Crab”.

Minimum Age Requirement: Someone in the renting party must be 26 years of age or older (verifiable at check-in).
